Peace to Scotti's Record Shop, and Tito's Burritos across the street. That's my seasonal routine in Summit. 45 King is still killing it with the beats. The way he adds the record wobble and the scratch on the track is pretty fresh. Peace to Jersey.

Stretch & Bobbito 7-27-1995

Big shout to DJ Eclipse for helping me stitch this one together.
This is another banger of a show with a full roster of great guests.
First up was Souls of Mischief, then Redman & Diezzle Don,
followed by Natural Elements (Mr. Voodoo, L-Swift, Dante Pacino),
and closing it out is Tone the Butcher. This one runs 4 plus hours
because the Jazz man was late. 21 years aged to perfection.

Cool V's Street

The dude who denied Cool V a job at Vogels is continuing to kick himself. I'm late to hear about this, but had to post it. DJ Cool V had a street named after him in his hometown of Elizabeth, NJ. I love shit like this, big shout to everyone who made this happen.

45 King/ Lord Sear styles

Most heads know The 45 King's 'Lost Breakbeats' series had some real treats for DJ's. With sites like Discogs I'm able to go back and check out the ones I missed out on, and it seems like there were at least 10-12 of them. The 'beige album' was one that came out around 1996, and uncharacteristically had some MC's on it, including Mark himself (usually the one side had hip hop beats and the other side had house beats). This song 'Tell me How You Like It' Stretch used to run a lot in early 1996 and until recently I never knew where it was released (shout to Serch4beatz). I've also uploaded a few other 45 king beats from the lost breakbeats albums, and Lord Sear getting busy on the Beige album.

I was listening to the Halftime show last week and heard a couple of Cymarshall Law's new joints and remembered I had this. WKCR 1999

I'm gonna hit you off today with two WKCR shows from 1999. At this point in time,
Stretch & Bobbito had parted ways as a team and began hosting the shows seperately on alternate weeks, so I'm going to put up shows from both Stretch and Bobbito.




First up is one of my favorite CM Fam-a-lam tapes, on this night Bobbito did a tribute to one of the best MC's, Kool G Rap. You'll hear a little over an hour of Bobbito's favorite Kool G Rap tracks, including some exclusive stuff (the unreleased 'I Declare War', and a live freestyle from Marley Marl's WBLS show).

DJ Slyce Interview

DJ Slyce

has been a prominent figure on the DJ battle scene for over a decade, consistently coming up with new routines, sick juggles, and crazy shit to make you wonder where he gets his ideas from. After winning the US DMC finals in 1997 and taking 3rd in the 1999 US finals, Slyce has made a return to the DMC battles this year, taking first place in both the east coast finals and US finals. Right now, we have the pleasure of hearing from this year's champion before he heads out to London for the 2008 World DMC Finals.

Just wanted to say congratulations to DJ Slyce for winning the 2008 US DMC battle for supremecy. Your man came out of retirement and won it, Jersey holding it down. Let's hope he can take it down in the world finals as well...Check out this post to catch some of Slyce's old rotines on an Underground Railroad appearance. Apparently, from a source of Keef Kash's, Slyce brought out the Michael Jackson routine again.
