Boiler Room

Stumbled on this the other day and it's definitely a good listen. DJ Nu-Mark with DJ Babu doing a set for the boiler room in LA in '16. They played each other's records instead of their own. All breaks.



This is DJ Shortkut in SF also doing a set for the boiler room in '14 (I think). Not sure what the boiler room thing is about, but looks like they throw some pretty good parties.

It's a flashback to the CM Fam-a-Lam Show with Bobbito & Lord Sear on December 31 1998, or technically 1 am January 1, 1999. This is a stupid fresh mix courtesy of DJ Cucumber Slice that is sure to get you in the party mood. He hits you with some Enjoy era old school followed by some late 80's/early 90's stuff.

Re-Up New York Live WNYU 1996 (w/Choclair)

Martin Moore and DJ Mayhem on WNYU 89.1 with special guest Choclair, who drops a quick two verses over Jay-Z's 'Dead Presidents' instrumental. Peace to Talib for the rip.

Mr. Thing 1990 Mix

This is a mix of all 1990 hip hop from DJ Mr. Thing formerly of the Scratch Perverts. Not sure where I got this, but this was part of the 'Thing Thursday' mixes he does on maybe a radio/podcast show in the UK. This one gets a lot of play in the gym because of how up-tempo 1990 was. Enjoy

DJ AM Do-Over

Just heard about the DJ AM documentary and I'm pretty siked to see it. Dude wasn't really known as a hip hop DJ, but he was versatile and really talented. Peep this mix he did live at the Do-Over from 2008.

DJ Riz Halftime Old-Mid School

DJ Riz takes you from the mid 90's back to the late 80's in this one hour set from the Halftime show, sometime in the early 00's.

Re-Up: Stretch & Bobbito 4-14-1996 (w/ Xtra P & Paula Perry)

Large Professor was supposed to make it up to the first Boogie and the Barber show, but didn't get past the security (which was notoriously hard on the guests sliding through at Hot 97). He finally made it to this show in mid-March, about two months into the show's run, and makes a lot of digs at the station. This one also features a guest spot from Paula Perry (with Masta Ace and Mister Cee trying to shop her a deal). Peace to Greg T.

Re-Up: The Showdown

There was a flea market on Rt 1/9 here in Jersey (US1) that used to sell records and mixtapes. This is a mixtape I copped there sometime in 95, DJ Iroc with 'The Showdown'. There is a bunch of exclusive freestyles he's got on there, KRS, Method Man, Pete Rock, Shyeim, Channel Live, Bootcamp, Cella Dwellas, O.C., King Just, 10 Theives; definitely worth a listen.

Re-Up: Stretch & Bobbito 3-16-1995 (w/Masta Ace Inc, The Roots, Bootcamp)

This might be my all time favorite Stretch & Bobbito show. This was one of those wish-I-still-had-this-tape kind of deals, until recently. This one is a collaborative effort, the first 2 hours brought to you by Steve B via Nobs and Aleph, and the 3rd part is what I was able to fill in afterwards. Not sure if Organized Konfusion showed up this night, but they were scheduled. You do get some good freestyle material from Masta Ace, Lord Digga, Paula Perry, Malik B, Black Thought, Dice Raw, Tek, Steel and Buckshot. Crazy line-up.

Re-Up - New York Live WNYU 1996 (w/Lord Finesse & Onyx)

This tape is pretty crazy, came to me via Talib. Lord Finesse shows you why he's the total package in hip hop as a DJ, producer and MC. Finesse jumps on the wheels for DJ Mayhem's New York Live on 89.1, on what is most likely one of their Thursday shows. After a 45 minute DJ set, Finesse plays some unreleased beats for a freestyle. Onyx was also in the studio promoting their new material.

DJ Nes - Jeep Mix

Celebrate the new year with some old school. Dug in the crates to pull out some mid 90's joints, rare remixes, slept on joints, party joints, blends, all that. I pretty much stayed in the 1993-1996 area, and kept the pace moving pretty quick. Feel free to share & repost, and thanks to P Original on the lookout.
