Split

I want to give a shout out to Eric @ Dirtcastle.com for putting me up on a good program to help join mp3's together. What I'm looking for now (and asking readers for help) is locating a program to split mp3's, lengthy mp3's (maybe up to 60 minutes long), but I need to be able to hear and see what I'm splitting as I'm doing it, like I'm working on the MPC trimming sounds (see pic below). I have a program called mptrim which helps me trim mp3's this way but only with mp3s up to 7 minutes long, and I also have another trim program which lets me trim mps that are longer but I can't see what I'm trimming (I can only trim the mp3s into a certain number of parts). Before I go out and spend my money on something, can anyone recommend a good free program like this for trimming, or at least a worthwhile program that isn't free? please hit me up in the comments with links or recommendations if you know of anything, would be greatly appreciated....

  1. download Audacity. It's completely free and will do whatever you need. It will split mp3's of that length, but it might take a few minutes or ten to load up the mp3. You'll also have to DL Lame Encoder, but there's a link to that on the Audacity page.

  3. I like Acoustica MP3 Audio Mixer, I use it to edit down stuff or to make larger mixes. I've been a fan of it for several years and it doesn't cost a lot of coin either and you can try it free for a while too.

  4. I use Winamp along with a program called "MP3 Splitter"... go figure

you load your longass MP3 into Winamp, open MP3 Splitter, point it to the file your trying to split, and also point it to your output folder (where the newly split tracks will go).. Now just play the track in Winamp, get to the point you want to split it, pause it and in the program select "Grab Winamp Position"... You'll see it list all of the times your splitting on the left side, and when you get to the end of your long-ass mp3, select "Create Tracks" and within seconds, every track is saved into your output folder... enjoy

  7. I'm working on a MPC too (2kXL) even if I own Cubase SX (seq/mix/edit for $ 800 !) I used to lay sounds on "Nero Edit" which is also useful and not heavy to run compare to Cubase which requires more memory ... So Nero Burning ROM enables you to cut/chopped/edit/reverb/delay/EQ ... u can find dat ish in the file Nero Tool (MP3 AIFF WAV ...) -- another free program "awave.exe" (demo) enables you to read and edit MPC sounds Roland Korg on & on -- Last but not least "Akai MPC editor software" Check this topic >> http://failedmuso.blogspot.com/2007/01/akai-mpc-editor-software.html << probably already heard about it

    Peace D'W''

  8. I can say without reservation that I have found Sound Forge to be the best and most versatile sound editing program out there.

It's like Audacity, except much more powerful, and way better.

It is VERY easy to acquire a free version of Sound Forge. If you are interested, hit me up (eyesandteeth@gmail.com)

  9. Long time no talk...

I know I'm a little behind here, but I have to recommend Cakewalk Pyro. I'd be happy to send you a cracked copy. If you run Windows, then I've got you covered. Drop me a line if you want at black2007@verizon.net

    Peace and blessings.
