Kid Koala

Check out these youtube clips of Kid Koala perfoming with his crew (DJ Jester and P-Love) at the Maida Vale Studios in London. You gotta respect the creativity of Kid Koala. My personal favorites are parts 3 and 4.

Radio shows...

I have lots of old tapes to digitize so stay tuned for more treats. Lot of stuff from Stretch Armstrong show, CM Radio, New York Live, Halftime, Underground Railroad, etc. as well as more unreleased stuff and other good music.

Black Moon's 'Enta da Stage' and Smif N wessun's 'Da Shinin' are two of my all time favorite hip hop albums. I've always been a fan of the beatminerz and their bass heavy, filtered production style. Being a record fanatic (nerd), I always appeciated hearing the break sets and mixtapes from these guys as well. Check out DJ Evil Dee spinning breaks live on WBAI's Underground Railroad from sometime around 2001, and the A side of Mr. Walt's 'Sure Shot' mixtape.

My Props

In 1992, The Brand New Heavies released 'Heavy Rhyme Experience: Volume 1' featuring Main Source, Kool G Rap, Gangstarr, Masta Ace, Black Sheep, and others. The Heavies also cut a track with 3rd Bass that didn't get released on the album. Word is the track was left off because 3rd Bass had broken up before its release. Maybe the song was cut due to Serch sarcastically giving props to Delicious Vinyl for 'putting out the fat tracks' at the end. Who knows, regardless it's a pretty decent track that's worth checking out...

DJ Muro

Japan's DJ Muro can also be credited as one of the pioneers of crate digging/ break mix tapes with his King of Diggin' series. According to an article I read in Waxpoetics magazine, Muro was first heard in New York on WNYU's New York Live radio show, hosted by DJ Mayhem, Martin Moore, and DJ Riz. I was fortunate enough to tune in that night and record his NY debut (a 30 minutes set of breaks/samples much like his King of Diggin' Series). So for those of you who missed out on this classic broadcast, here is DJ Muro live on WNYU from April 1996. To this day, this is one of my all time favorite tapes...
